Description

A natural cream Pashmina stole worked with hand-embroidered Sozni across the field and a wide multi-band border at the ends. The needlework is set into handwoven Pashmina with a fine needle, not painted or woven, so the colour sits on the pale ground.

Large curved paisleys are worked across the field, each filled with fine florals and set with smaller sprigs between. A broad border of linked paisley medallions, framed by leaf and vine bands, runs the lengthwise edge and ends. The threads are matt Sozni in a cool blue, green and purple range.

The ground stays a natural cream, the embroidery holding to peacock blues and greens with red outlining the forms. Handwoven from Ladakhi Pashmina, the cloth keeps a light, soft handle and an even grain beneath the work.
