This Palledar Pashmina shawl is handmade in Srinagar, the center of Kashmiri weaving. It uses the finest Ladakhi Pashmina, combed by hand from the soft undercoat of Changthangi goats living on the cold Changthang plateau. The harsh climate there creates fleece that is both warm and fine. The shawl’s body is a deep, pure black—broad and calm. Only the most skilled embroidery is added to this base. At each end, the Palledar pallu features dense, precise Sozni embroidery. You’ll see interlocking medallions and flowing paisley shapes in terracotta, blush pink, soft teal, sage green, and ivory. The needlework is so detailed that the embroidery almost looks woven. The difference between the plain black body and the decorated pallu is not just for looks.
