Description

A do-rangi Pashmina stole — pale lemon-yellow through the body, soft blush at each end — worked all over in fine sozni jaal of trailing vines in tonal sage green. Basant is the Urdu word for spring, the season of yellow; the cloth holds that spring-garden feeling, green climbing across yellow and blush.

Pure Pashmina from Ladakh's Changthangi goat — gathered above 14,000 feet at the spring moult, woven do-rangi in two ground colours, yellow and blush. Spun and woven in Srinagar in fine twill, then taken to a sozni karigar who works the entire jaal by hand. A self-fringe finishes the stole.

Do-rangi means two ground colours woven into one cloth — here the jaal is worked on the face, the two tones meeting mid-body. Light and wrapable as a stole, with the hand-work of a far heavier piece. Cruelty-free fibre, fair-wage karigars, each stole signed by the master.
