Deep amber Pashmina worked across the body in fine sozni jaal — trailing vines, small paisleys, and flower clusters in soft pink, coral, sage, and ivory thread, drawn gently against the saturated ground. Kahrooba is the Urdu word for amber — the fossilized resin gemstone — and this is its colour, warm and aged.

Pure Pashmina from Ladakh's Changthangi goat — gathered above 14,000 feet at the spring moult, dyed once in deep amber. Woven in Srinagar in fine twill, the cloth then reaches a sozni karigar; every vine and paisley worked by single-thread needlework. A self-fringe finishes the edge.

Fine vine jaal on a saturated ground asks more of the karigar than on a natural cloth — the embroidery must hold quietly against richer colour rather than disappear into it. Many months of work go into a single piece. Cruelty-free fibre, fair-wage karigars, each shawl signed by the master.
