A deep pomegranate-rust cloth scattered with what reads like pearl-grain — ivory Sozni jaal in tiny florals across the body, opening into a wide hashia of large paisleys in the same cream thread. Anar is the Urdu word for pomegranate; this rust is the inside of the fruit at full season.
Pure Ladakhi Pashmina, gathered above 14,000 feet from the Changthangi goat at the spring moult, dyed in a single deep rust — a Mughal colour, ancient and aristocratic. Once woven in Srinagar, the cloth reaches a sozni karigar who works the entire jaal in ivory single-thread needlework. A self-fringe finishes the edge.
Tonal Sozni — ivory on rust — is the connoisseur's choice. Multi-coloured jaal can mask small irregularities; monochromatic cannot. Every stitch is visible, every stitch judged. Nearly a year on a single artisan's frame — among the most refined examples in the catalogue.
