Description

A soft peach Pashmina shawl scattered all over with tiny multi-colour buti — little flower sprigs, paisleys and diamond motifs spaced evenly across the field, each one discrete against open ground. Khubani is the Urdu word for apricot; the shawl holds that warm, soft fruit-skin tone.

Pure Pashmina from the Changthangi goats of Ladakh, combed by hand each spring above 14,000 feet. Handwoven in Srinagar, then taken to a sozni karigar who places each small buti by hand in fine single-thread needlework across the whole shawl. A fine fringe finishes the edges.

All-over buti is patient work — hundreds of tiny motifs set one by one, the open ground between them as considered as the flowers themselves. Light, soft and easy to wear, with the hand-work of a far heavier piece. Cruelty-free fibre, fair-wage karigars, each shawl signed by the master.
