Description

A do-rangi Pashmina stole — soft steel-grey through the body, deep black at the border — with small white buti scattered over the grey and a dense white Sozni jaal filling the black. Abr is the Urdu word for cloud; an overcast grey meeting an onyx-black edge, all in silver-white thread.

Pure Pashmina from Ladakh's Changthangi goat — gathered above 14,000 feet at the spring moult, woven do-rangi in two grounds, grey and black. Spun and woven in Srinagar in fine twill, then taken to a sozni karigar who works the buti and the deep black border by hand. A fine fringe finishes the ends.

The black border is where the work concentrates — white vines and flowers built stitch by stitch against the dark, the most striking contrast in Sozni. An open grey body lets it speak. Cruelty-free fibre, fair-wage karigars, each stole signed by the master.
