This pure Kashmiri Pashmina shawl is handcrafted in Srinagar, the historic center of traditional Kashmiri weaving. The shawl is woven from the rare undercoat, the soft, fine inner layer of fur of the Changthangi goat. This breed is raised at altitudes above 14,000 feet on the high plateaus of Ladakh. The extreme cold produces a fibre of exceptional fineness. It is warm enough to carry you through a mountain winter, yet light enough to fold into a travel bag without a second thought. Every strand is hand-combed from the goat's coat, hand-spun into yarn, and brought to the loom by artisans who have practised this discipline not for years, but for lifetimes.

The Do Rukha weave defines this shawl as a traditional Kashmiri reversible shawl, among the rarest technical feats in handloom weaving. On a pit loom, the weaver controls two complete warp sets—one for each colour, interlocking them precisely so each side is perfectly clean. No visible seam, no colour bleed, and no wrong side.
