Description

Lehar-o-Noor means wave and light. The stole reads exactly that way, fine stripes of natural taupe and warm gold rippling down its length like sunlight moving over water, closing at one end in a small woven garden of colour.

Handwoven in Kashmir from pure Ladakhi Pashmina, combed from the Changthangi goat. The body is woven in fine taupe and gold stripe, the gold deepening through the centre. The border is worked in the Kani technique by a master kani-baf reading from a coded talim, a multi-colour floral jaal in red, turquoise, pink, and green.

Kani is the slowest and most exclusive of all Kashmiri weaves, built thread by thread with no machine and no shortcut. Even at the lighter scale of a stole, this is collector-grade work. A piece to wear close and keep for years.
