Handcrafted in Srinagar, the historic heart of Kashmiri heritage weaving, this check and stripe Pashmina shawl is drawn from the finest Ladakhi Pashmina fiber — hand-combed from the extraordinarily soft undercoat of the Changthangi goat, which grazes the high frozen pastures of the Changthang plateau in Ladakh and grows its fleece in direct response to a cold that most living things cannot survive. Across the entire body of the shawl, warm mustard gold and bright aqua teal interlock in a bold woven check — each block large, open, and generous, its edges carrying the soft feathered quality of a true ikat weave, so that every boundary between the two colours seems to breathe rather than simply divide. Over this, fine ivory white stripe lines run in a continuous flowing rhythm, adding a layer of movement to the composition that makes the whole shawl appear to ripple when it drapes — as though the pattern itself is still in motion.
