Description

Woven, not embroidered, and built to be seen. A natural cream ground carries a bold check, thick black bars crossing the weave with soft grey shading pooling in the squares, the whole grid worked straight into the cloth.

There is no needlework here and none is wanted. The check is built on the loom in the tradition of a good highland plaid, black over cream at a confident scale, so the pattern carries on its own without any applied motif. A visible twill runs through the weave, giving the surface depth as it moves. Natural fringe finishes each end.
