Description

A natural Pashmina stole woven through with fine multi-colour stripes and checks — rust, ochre, indigo, teal and plum crossing a warm earthen ground. Mitti is the Urdu word for earth; mela, a country fair. Together: the colours of a fair scattered across bare earth.

Pure Pashmina from Ladakh's Changthangi goat — gathered above 14,000 feet at the spring moult. The pattern is woven, not embroidered: dyed yarns laid into the warp and weft on a traditional Kashmiri loom, the checks and stripes built thread by thread. A fine fringe finishes the ends.

A woven check is the quiet, everyday side of Pashmina — no surface embroidery, just colour worked into the cloth itself, light and easy to throw on. The warmth and softness are the same as any fine piece.
