Description

A Kalamkari Pashmina shawl on a soft ecru ground, hand-embroidered across its full field in a dense floral jaal. Fine vines thread the whole cloth, carrying large round blooms, small star flowers and little leaves in a close, all-over spread with running floral borders down the sides.

The needlework runs through a wide palette, pinks, purples, blues, greens, teal, orange and gold worked side by side, each large flower shaded through several tones against the pale ground so the pattern reads almost painted. The natural ground stays visible between the vines, keeping the dense work light on the eye.

Handwoven from Ladakhi Pashmina and worked by hand, the cloth keeps the fine, even grain and soft, matt handle of pure Pashmina throughout, finished with a self-fringe at the ends.
